Men’s Basketball First Semester Recap!
Men's Basketball ended the first semester with a record of 6–8. Although the Lions lost more games than they would have liked, they showed promise and potential throughout the first semester.
The Lions started the year with a big win over Kuyper University. They then lost an exhibition matchup to Dakota State (NAIA) but competed well. The team traveled to Dubuque, Iowa, to play in the Emmaus Tip-Off Classic. In Dubuque, the Lions went 1–1, defeating Emmaus University 107–89 and narrowly losing to Grace Christian 78–77. The team then played another exhibition matchup against Bismarck State (NAIA). The Lions defeated Bismarck State 83–82, capping off the program's first win against an NAIA opponent since 2016. Later in the week, the Lions also started 2–0 in conference play, defeating the University of Saint Boniface in Winnipeg, Canada.
The Lions faced some challenges in the month of November, particularly the week before Thanksgiving, when they played four games in just five days. The Lions dropped all four games that week. However, the team stayed together and continued to work hard. On December 4, the Lions hosted the NCCAA number-one ranked Spurgeon College. The Lions dominated that night, earning a commanding 101–83 win over the Spurgeon Knights. The Lions closed out the semester by losing two of their final three games. They currently sit at 6–8 overall and 3–0 in conference play.
The Lions will return to action on January 16 against North Region and conference opponent Providence University College. The team will look to build on what they learned in the first semester and be ready when tournament time arrives.
