Women’s Volleyball Season Recap
The women's volleyball season came to an end Monday night after a tough loss in the region tournament, to the eventual region champions Faith Baptist Bible College. Although the ladies fell short of their ultimate goal, they still had an amazing season and a lot to be proud of.
This season marked Quincy Wilson's first year as head coach, and in his first season the team finished with a record of 11-10! This is the most wins a team has won since 2012! The Lady Lions got out to a slow start this season, going 0-7, losing to some very good nationally ranked teams. This included a close 3-2 loss to the Lake Region Royals. Although the ladies did not start the season how they wanted to. They stayed together and continued to get better as a team.
The team followed up the seven-game losing streak with a five-game winning streak! They then followed that up by winning six of their eight games in October. They defeated Dakota College at Bottineau twice for the first time in five years. To close the regular season, the ladies defeated Sisseton Wahpeton College on Senior Night, winning 3-2 after being down 8-2 in the fifth set!
To end the year, the team received multiple individual awards. Junior Marlyssa Ledgerwood and senior Hanna Hunter both received All-Region honorable mention, senior Alcista Miller received All-Region second team, and sophomore Jenna LaDuke, and freshman Kayla De Campos both received All-Region first team. Kayla De Campos was also named Libero of The Year!
The Lady Lions lose seniors Alcista Miller and Hannah Hunter, who will be greatly missed next year! The team brings back a lot next year, such as seniors Emoni Holmes and Marlssa Ledgerwood. Junior Jenna LaDuke, and Sophomores: Jenitha Robinson, Kayla De Campos, Hannah Fischer, Kymber-Lee Mcgorman, Kaili Gordon, Ellie Ortega, Shea Danielson, Mikayla Ledgerwood, and Mikendra Ledgerwood.
Congrats to the ladies on a great season. We are very proud of the accomplishments of this season, and we are extremely excited to see what the team does next year as they have a lot to build on from this season!
