Lady Lions Win Three Straight at Faith Classic!
The Lady Lions were in Ankeny, Iowa, this weekend to compete in the Faith Classic, hosted by Faith Baptist Bible College. The Lady Lions had an amazing weekend, going 3-0!
Day One
The Lady Lions opened the classic against Manhattan Christian College. After trailing 19–16 at the end of the first quarter, they outscored Manhattan 18–12 in the second to take a 34–31 lead into halftime. The Lady Lions had an explosive third quarter, outscoring Manhattan 22–11. They went on to win 73–67, led by junior center Madeline Berkey, who posted 25 points on 8-of-10 shooting. She also grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 6 assists.
Day Two
On day two, the Lady Lions faced off against the Faith Baptist Eagles. They came away with a 67–55 victory! The Lady Lions had a balanced attack, with four players reaching double figures. Mikayla Lederwood led the way with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Madeline Berkey finished with 14 points, Kayla De Campos added 13 points, and Marlyssa Ledgerwood chipped in 10 points.
Day Three
The Lady Lions wrapped up the weekend against the Central Christian College Saints. They jumped out to a 20–13 lead in the first quarter. The Saints responded by taking the second quarter 14–13. The Lady Lions created separation in the fourth quarter, winning it 18–9 to secure a 77–63 victory. Once again, the team had a balanced attack with four players scoring in double figures. Leading the charge was Kayla De Campos with 22 points. Madeline Berkey and Mikendra Ledgerwood each added 15 points, with Berkey also snagging 11 rebounds for a double-double. Jaelle Fischer also chipped in 13 points.
The Lady Lions are now 4–4 on the season and have an exhibition game vs. Valley City State University on Tuesday, November 25!
