Volleyball Wins Two in a Row; Coach Wilson gets First Career Win
This past week, the Lady Lions started a two game win streak! On Wednesday, the Lady Lions took down the Sisseton Wahpeton Mustangs in 5 sets for their first win of the season, and Coach Wilson's first win as head coach! The Lady Lions took the 5th set 15-9 with Alcista Miller setting Jenna LaDuke for a powerful hit that the back row of the Mustangs struggled to receive, giving the Lions the game ending point! Some notable stats from the game: Mikayla Ledgerwood finished with 24 digs, Jenna LaDuke connected on 15 kills, and Alscista Miller handed out 26 assists!
The Lady Lions also won this past Saturday, in a 3-0 sweep vs Minnesota State Community and Technical College. This puts the Lady Lions at 2-7 on the season and they will look to build off the momentum of their two game win streak!
The Lady Lions got off to a rocky start this season playing against some tough opponents. Including nationally ranked and region opponents Crown College and Faith Baptist, as well as talented teams Lake Region State and Miles Community College. Nevertheless the Lions showed well while dropping those games to Lake Region 3-2 and Miles Community College 3-1. The team's performances this season demonstrated that they have the ability to compete, but just need time to put it all together and get over a few hurdles!
In the words of Head Coach Quincy Wilson: "We've worked hard to build our chemistry, and to see it come together in our first win makes me proud of this team. I can't wait to see how this group builds off of this successful week as we continue to get better!
The Lady Lions will try to make it three straight wins as they are back in action this Friday when they host Free Lutheran Bible College at 6pm in the Ray Ulmer Field House!
