Women’s Volleyball Mid-Season Update!
Women's Volleyball has been on a role in recent weeks, after a slow start to the season! The Lady Lions have won six of their last seven games putting them at a record of 6-8 on the season. During that seven game stretch, they won one game in 5 sets after being down 13-8 in the final set, as well winning three of those games, 3 sets to 0! Most recently the Lady Lions defeated Dakota Bottineau College taking them into the fall break on another high note!
The team has continued to improve throughout the year and are looking to add to the win column as they prepare for the region tournament at the end of the year! Currently the team ranks #1 in the country in digs, #2 in the country in blocks, #5 in opponent hitting percentage, and #7 in opponent kills. Individually Kayla Decampos is #1 in the country in digs averaging 7.4 per game! We have 3 players in the top 10 in the country in blocks. Ellie Ortega is 3rd, Jenna LaDuke is 5th, and Marlyssa Ledgerwood is 9th!
We spoke with Head Coach Quincy Wilson about how the season is going and he stated "These girls get better every time they step on the court. Our last few wins reflect the hard work and focus they show up with everyday in practice!"
The Lady Lions are back on Monday night October 20th, at Sisseton Wahpeton College!
