Lions WBB Defeats Rhema to take 7th at ACCA National Tournament

HOW IT HAPPENED 

The two teams traded baskets throughout the 1st quarter as there were 3 lead changes and 4 ties.

The Lions used a big 2nd quarter to grab the lead and never looked back.

The Lions led at halftime 39 to 32.

The 3rd quarter saw the Lions continue to grow their lead as they would lead by as much as 18 points.

They Lions were able to carry the momentum into the 4th quarter to go on to the win.

The Lions defeated the Eagles 81 to 65.

- The Lions shot 55 percent from the field (31/56), 16 percent on 3's (2/12) and 81 percent on FT's (17/21).

- The Eagles shot 36 percent from the field (25/68), 20 percent on 3's (5/20) and 66 percent on FT's (10/15).

-The Lions had 5 offensive rebounds to the Eagles 14.

-The Lions had 12 turnovers to the Eagles 13.

-All 5 Lions WBB starters were in double figures.

-Jaylen Newman led the Lions with a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds on 11 for 24 from the field.

-Shaylyn Steinheuser added 18 points, while Rachel Church and Rebecca Olsson both pitched in 13 points.

-Brynn Crockett added 12 points on 5 for 11 shooting.

- Jaylen Newman was named ACCA 1st Team All-American.

-Shaylyn Steinheuser was named ACCA 2nd Team All-American.

-Jaylen Newman & Rebecca Olsson were namend ACCA Academic All-Americans.
